(81,901 posts)I think she would be bad at the job. Shes an ideologue that seeks adoration. Shes perfect for her current job. I dont think she belongs in an executive role and certainly not president.

That's a thing.
And this anecdote, the reaction described, is a thing because it's immediately following Kamala Harris giving a speech.

(14,249 posts)But if you can find any reporter, after interviewing a white voter tweeting out the following takeaway from the interview, please share it:
Right after @KamalaHarris' speech directly taking on old notions of electability, I interviewed a 64 year old White man who said Sorry. I think I know America and while Kamala is very impressive, Joe Biden is more electable."

(70,395 posts)he talked about how many in the black community, including his mom, were on the hillary train until obama won iowa.
then they believed. he said he called his mom to ask her what she thought on the night of iowa. he reported her answer was-OBAMA!! OBAMA!!! and that she was on the train from then on.
now, those 8 years may weigh heavy on those hopes. but i think once she wins a couple of primaries, or she otherwise starts to look "electable", a lot of that could change.
if we get the wave we are hoping for, it will put whoever our candidate is in the white house, and wash out the slime from our congress, too.

(8,761 posts)No matter what Barack Obama does or says, Joe Biden will always have an Obama nostalgia factor. Especially juxtaposed against Trump.
Time will tell if I'm right or not.

(18,402 posts)There was little to no support for Obama in the black community. They either didn't know him, or (mostly) thought that he would be unelectable as a black man, or that it was too dangerous for a black man.
It wasn't until he (a) raised a lot of money, (b) announced (in November) that Oprah would campaign for him, and (c) rose to the top of the polls in Iowa at the end of the year that he really started to win people over. When he won Iowa, it sealed the deal. He suddenly looked very electable.
We're still very early in the game. There's going to be some juggling going on, most likely. I will wait until November-December of this year to see where things are headed.

That said, it's more than name recognition. Joe is someone most of us already like, know and trust.
Kamala is someone we're just starting to know better...and she's darn amazing too.
