(58,785 posts)Biden makes that his decency and sense of justice on this issue are longstanding. We've put up a bunch of fencing over the years for practical reasons, most of it to stop vehicles crossing the desert, none of it a hate wall. And legalizing immigrant labor and enforcing laws against companies that employ undocumented workers is the decent, responsible way to go about it. Instead of deliberately persecuting and exploiting people who come to work, as Republicans have always pleased the worst of their people by doing.
Justice Democrats is a radical populist political action group hostile to the Democratic Party. So to me what's notable is the restraint Chakrabarti is showing with only truth-based snipes at Biden (which this video is). It must be very frustrating to him as we know he and the others are skilled at manufacturing and spreading very nasty disinformation.
It's reasonable to assume that unusual restraint has been imposed on him because he is Ocasio-Cortez's chief of staff. I haven't been watching others from the JD/Brand New Congress clique, but Chakra and another of those guys are now employees who apparently crave proximity to her power. Huge 180-degree power shift. The days when they boasted that they may need to sacrifice her house seat for their grand cause (by having her misbehave) ended immediately after that particular tweet, , along with most of the rest of their nasty attacks on the party. Under their own names anyway. Progress.
All together, Ocasio-Cortez herself is so far looking like an asset to the party. I thought very poorly of her because she didn't leave Sanders after some of his 2016 behaviors, but she's acting like a member of the Democratic house caucus at this time and is being listened to by people we need to start voting.
I'd suggest giving her time to prove, or reveal, herself further. Some may not like that, but what would Nancy want?

(67,782 posts)....and Brand New Congress, they are VERY hostile to Democrats. That video is a snippet of an overall talk by Biden to those in the room. It's not unlike what they did to Chelsea Clinton at that memorial service several weeks ago, showing a small, select part of it that showed Clinton in a negative light that didn't really exist.
Chakrabarti himself is showing "restraint", but his various organizations are all-out in attacks on the Democratic Party. If you're on twitter, follow him, Justice Democrats and their Communications Director, Waleed Shahid. You'll get a much better feel for the relentless attacks on Democrats and the Democratic Party.

(58,785 posts)when they were among those who worked to convince millions of gullible fools to leave the Democratic Party rather than vote for anyone but Sanders, even promoted the idea that losing to the Republicans could be a positive step to gaining power.
And that it's nothing compared to that is proven by the fact that its content reveals Biden to be a sensible, decent man to all who actually check it out. Of course, their intro suggests wrongdoing to those who don't.
I have nothing but contempt for their contempt for democracy and ruthless pursuit of power. I wish we could lock them in cages with children crying helplessly for their missing parents, force them to take jobs to support people whose minimum wage jobs are still far below poverty level, pay increasing college debt, be deported with naturalized Americans who've been betrayed, and then go to prison with Trump. Seriously. Fantasy, but what they did to others is not more than they deserve for themselves. They have so much to answer for and never will have to.
As you'll have noticed, though, my argument is for not blaming Ocasio-Cortez for her associates' behavior as long as she continues as an asset to the party. I know it's hard to give her a pass, but the goal is winning in 2020, not indulging anger.

(67,782 posts)....in the founding of Justice Democrats, Chakrabarti and Corbin Trent, are high level staffers of hers. And all three along with others associated with Justice Democrats have no qualms about attacking Democrats, which is an obstacle to winning in 2020.
BTW, it should be noted that in her Statement of Candidacy filed with the FEC, she listed her address as 714 South Gay Street, Knoxville, TN 37902, which at the time was the address of Justice Democrats. It wasn't changed to a New York address until two weeks AFTER the 2018 election.
