I want to see all of the Democratic candidates shine.
This is the deepest bench the country has ever seen... Lets all be proud to show it off.
The best competition is stiff competition... Itll give us the best opportunity to see whos the best for the job.

(2,113 posts)I think the worst thing for Democrats would be a rush or push to dismiss the amazing field of candidates in order to crown Biden early. That will only leave the supporters of other candidates with a very sour taste in their mouths and could risk party unity behind the nominee. We all saw how well that worked out in 2016 and as a result I think it is CRUCIAL that ALL candidates be respected, valued and allowed a fair shot to be heard. Yes, there are too many in the race but that will change after the first debate. The race needs to be allowed to play out.

(1,672 posts)Is a comparison even possible between Mnuchin and Elizabeth Warren? Every last one of them shines in areas where the GOP has shown it self not to be the party of ideas, but the party of grifting schemers.

So, even though we can't have more than one President at a time, their talents certainly won't be tossed and lost.

(10,306 posts)"Instant-runoff voting (IRV) or ranked choice voting (RCV) is a type of ranked preferential voting method used in single-seat elections with more than two candidates. Instead of indicating support for only one candidate, voters in IRV elections can rank the candidates in order of preference."

(22,292 posts)open the DNC with no clear winner from the primaries and caucuses.
There will be nominations from the floor, which may include persons who were not in the field during the run up. This type of convention can be a lot of fun to watch. With a field this large, that final group could be 3 or 4 people.

Indeed, if the republicans had used ranked voting, they/we could have avoided Trump.
And I'm confident that the best candidate would be identified if used by the Democratic Party.

(2,075 posts)This huge field of Democratic candidates is mind boggling, it makes my head spin. Where do you begin to evaluate and compare them all - moreover, in a clear, concise and systematic fashion? If there isn't some concerted effort to do this, I'm afraid that Russian trolls and bots will step in to amplify all the confusion, and turn it into back biting and discord to divide the Democrats. There should definitely be a discussion group or a forum here on DU to try to make sense of the huge Democratic field, and help us all achieve clarity regarding the candidates.

(6,947 posts)I want the same thing. 20 candidates? You know what that means? 20 obligatory news stories about Democratic ideas on how to fix this mess. 20 people on TV explaining how they will rescue America from Trumpism. 20 critical stories from Fox News about the Democrats' plans.
And how much have we heard from the field of 2020 Republican candidates? One lonely guy?
That's why 20 Democratic candidates is worth billion$ in coverage of Democratic solutions, but more important: endless coverage of Trump weaknesses and what is being opposed.
Pop more popcorn, folks. This is a long, long, show.
