(42,862 posts)I'm not at all surprised at how poorly BS is doing. His campaign has completely TANKED! His support has CRATERED and I think it's in large part due to his HUMILIATING performance at the "She the People" conference as well has his recent fuck-up on MTP.

(16,549 posts)But his campaign has been sloppy and he has turned in some bad performances (She the People).
Now instead of the waltz to the nomination they expected they are fighting to hold onto an ever diminishing sliver of the primary electorate.

(11,088 posts)has been very little advertising on the airwaves. Once people see Biden and Sander's performances at the debates, it will become slowly more clear who we will select.

(25,525 posts)Name recognition is a canard. Everyone knows who Bernie is and what he stands for.

(11,088 posts)Biden was VP for 8 years. Bernie ran for president in one cycle and failed. There has not been much media attention or recognition since then. The percentage of recognition could be correct, but the extent to which they know about him is far less.

(25,525 posts)Their exposure to Bernie and his ideas are just as recent as to those of Biden. If anything, they're more familiar with Bernie's recent record thanks to the 2016 cycle.

(8,144 posts)even the most significant factor in Bidens poll performance thus far. Name recognition in its literal sense only implies that the public can put a face to a name.
Those of us who support Joe recognize his character, temperament, history of accomplishment, experience, knowledge, intelligence, stability in personal and political life, not just his name.
We recognize his appeal to Americans from many constituencies, and his potential to unite.
We like that he has a vision for the country that is optimistic and inclusive.
We admire and are inspired by his unflagging drive to serve.
We recognize him as having superior qualifications for the presidency.

(9,586 posts)One can as well argue that the only thing that's giving Bernie the edge versus Warren is name recognition. Do you think that after HER performance in the debates, SHE might overtake Bernie?

(7,447 posts)there was no way the progressive vote wasn't going to be split at that point.
If it wasn't Biden, it would have been someone else who eventually got the moderate vote.
Sanders was never getting it.

(67,782 posts)Think about it, 36% is more than one-third, the other 20+ are splitting up the other two-thirds. That 36% is amazing considering the huge crowd.
Biden and Buttigieg are the only two with positive favorability Ratings:
49 - 39 percent for Joseph Biden +10
23 - 19 percent for South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg +4
27 - 30 percent favorable for Sen. Kamala Harris of California -3
41 - 48 percent for Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont -7
23 - 31 percent for Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey -8
32 - 41 percent for Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts -9
20 - 32 percent for former U.S. Rep. Beto O'Rourke of Texas -12
8 - 45 percent for New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio -37

(1,017 posts)I think voters see this economy as Obama-Trump more than just Trump.
So Biden's the only Democrat that can say that and convince voters that he'll keep the economy humming.
If the economy tanks then that makes other democrats more plausible, but Biden-Obama wouldn't get the blame for that, all the blame would fall on Trump. So with the economy its win-win for Biden.
