We do not need a moderate. We are too far right

How did we get here? By not fighting corporate money and power enough to promote true progressive ideas out of FEAR of losing their sleazy support!!!

TOTAL FUNDRAISING

💵 Trump $144 million
💵 Sanders $109 million
💵 Warren $80 million
💵 Buttigieg $76 million
💵 Biden $60 million

Sanders + Warren have raised $189 million with small-dollar grassroots donations.

Anyone who thinks we need a moderate is not reading the moment.

The extremely wealthy don't want to have to pay taxes or have their enormous share of the "pie" cut even by a tiny sliver.

Right now, they have a sweet deal where virtually every aspect of our society is arranged as a pipeline to send wealth from....well, everywhere directly to their bank accounts, so they prefer a moderate who reassures them that nothing will change, that the will still be getting most of, well, everything.

Besides, they reason, those of us who are left of center have no where else to go, so we don't matter at all.

Anyone who thinks that a dozen donations from the same person equals a dozen votes on election day is not thinking clearly.

Fact of the matter is this: Bernie's followers are loud and loyal, but there just aren't enough of them to secure the Democratic nomination. It doesn't matter how "often" a single person donates a dollar... they can only vote ONE TIME.

All I'm saying is that Bernie has reached his high-water mark. He has a ceiling that's going to be about 20%, and that's it. In some states he won't even make the 15% mark and will get ZERO delegates.

Hey! Is it true that "Our Revolution" is a dark-money Super-PAC? Does anyone know what they do with their money... or more importantly, does anyone know where it comes from and who's donating to it?

If you think the best way to garner those party votes is to nominate someone on the far left, it seems like an odd strategy.

You're right that we've moved the country too far to the right, but that just makes a moderate appear to be in deep left field as it is. Maybe you're thinking that if we get a true liberal on the ballot we'll win the Trump voters over. Say that out loud and see how it sounds.

Looking at the voting ages in the article linked above, it is the 65+ voters (like me) that voted in the highest number. We want a stable government that's respected on the world stage. That is why Biden is consistently polling out in front. He has ihe most foreign policy experience. There will be time after that to talk about other domestic issues that our far left brethren are supporting. IMHO Biden is the candidate that can carry Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. These are MUST WIN states for an electoral college victory. Getting rid of the present squatter in the People's House should be our ONLY priority.

I also remember in early 2008 when Obama was unelectable.

But who can forget such hits as

Dukakis/Bentsen, because the votes are between the 40 years lines!
Gore/Lieberman, because we have to appeal to moderates who just didn't like Bill Clinton.
Kerry/Edwards, because Dean was way to liberal about the Iraq war, and we need to appeal to the moderates.
Clinton/Kaine, because we need to appeal to the anti-Trump Republicans!

With Biden/MaybeARepublican leading the polls in 2020. What could possibly go wrong?

was sooooooo energized that not even the Reverend scandal could bring him down and I was so afraid that that was going to be the end for Obama because of all the faux outrage being repeated over and over and over again on the news.

Please give us someone we can get excited about!!!!

AND we will. We will knock on doors, show up in large numbers.

Remember this is the year of the Woman and it is the woman who has caused the most progressive changes since Trump was elected. Trust us and give us a real reason to get excited about the future of our planet and our children!

If we are not afraid we will be rewarded.

Remember that it is money that keeps the media from presenting the left as electable. It is they who routinely pick our candidates and it needs to end now. We are in trouble and real bold change is a must not slight differences in how wall street gets to control our government.

Thu Jan 2, 2020, 10:17 PM
Jan 2020

And now they complain about all the rightie shit they helped usher in over the years...like United , two wars, a right wing court, income inequality, tax cuts...etc etc. The left /Greens never have a majority in terms of winning an election and clearly looking at the Senate they are not competitive in 30 states. Also, 18 and 19 clearly show moderates can win the house and local elections, but somehow the left/ Greens manage to spoil presidential elections and in 16 even Senate elections as strong liberals like Feingold went down ...they seize defeat from the jaws of victory. And of course they are busy trying to decide which Democratic seats they can primary...having little interest it seems in actually beating Republicans.

"As of 2019, the GOP controls the presidency, a majority in the U.S. Senate, a majority of state governorships, a majority (30) of state legislatures, and 21 state government trifectas (governorship and both legislative chambers). Five of the nine sitting U.S. Supreme Court justices were nominated by Republican presidents."

Gore was savaged by Bradley? Really? Do you have a link to a specific example? Kerry came from nowhere and won Iowa. How was he savaged in the primaries and by whom? Clinton ran against a tiny field with only one opponent with the remotest of chances to upset her. That isn't savagery. It isn't close, especially when compared to the two examples in my title line.

Primaries are the fire where presidents are forged. They aren't coronations; they are crucibles.

ELIZABETH SCHULTE looks at the rotten record of John Kerry.

IF THERE was any question about John Kerry being a "liberal," the Massachusetts senator cleared it up during the February debate of Democratic presidential contenders in New York City. No way, Kerry said.

"It's absolutely the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen in my life," Kerry snapped--before proudly coming up with a long list of his less-than-liberal credentials, including "deficit reduction" and putting "100,000 police officers on the streets of America.

After a brief flirtation with populist rhetoric and his uptight version of being a "regular guy" that helped get him the Democratic Party's presidential nomination in primaries earlier this year, Kerry has quickly eased back into a role he seems much more comfortable with. Sounding like his opponent, George W. Bush."

"With the threat of Donald Trump moving into the White House, the heat is on activists and the left to support the Democratic Party candidate. But does the Democratic Party establishment's choice, Hillary Clinton, really deserve your vote? What is her record? Does she represent a departure from what some see as the “liberal heart” of the Democratic Party? What would a Clinton White House look like?"

"Excitement wins elections. Not safety." was the topic.

Sanders has a cult group of followers. That is all. Cant get past 17% nationally in a democratic primary. Do you call that "excitement" I sure as hell don't.

However that "group" Sanders commands will burn the primary down if he doesn't "win" talk about savage. I saw the same in 2000, 2004, 2008. Don't recall 1996.

It's just that plenty of us don't believe that M4A, Green New Deal, and having the government pay for college for everyone are realistic solutions for these problem. I get really pissed of when supporters of far-left candidates act like they are the only ones who take these problems seriously, and their solutions are the only way to address them. Promising a solution that won't ever pass is in some ways worse than denying that the problem exists, because it prevents any real improvments from occurring.
