Jumaane Williams Endorses Bernie Sanders for President

Jan 2, 2020

"It's critically important to have someone like Bernie Sanders in office after we get rid of #45, because we have to have someone in there who's not just going to heal and unite, but is dramatically going to change the systems that are in place." –New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams

By spending more time trashing the so-called Democratic "establishment" (which would presumably include people like John Lewis, Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff) than criticizing Trump, and by hiring as senior campaign staff former Stein supporters who seem to have the trashing of actual Democratic candidates as their only purpose? That's healing and uniting?

Jumaane Williams has a progressive problem.

In his second bid to become the Council speaker, the legislator from Brooklyn is positioning himself as a champion of the left, but Williams’ socially conservative views on marriage equality and abortion — long a source of concern for his liberal colleagues — could now be a millstone in his quest to lead one of the most left-leaning legislatures in the country.
