Related: About this forumBREAKING: Julin Castro endorses Elizabeth Warren for President!
'Castro says: Theres one candidate I see who's unafraid to fight like hell to make sure America's promise will be there for everyone. Elizabeth and I share a vision of America where everyone counts. An America where people -- not the wealthy or well-connected -- are put first. I'm proud to join her in the fight for big, structural change.'

(70,268 posts)surrogates are really gonna matter.
i have been thinking about this, as they have wrung their hands on my teevee about how these senators can compete while stuck in d.c. with their mouths taped shut most of the day.
i think this is a stupid topic, really. i mean, it's a thing, but it is hardly the immovable object.
they will still tweet, and talk on the tv at the end of the day's hearings. but the big thing will be who they can send out as stand-ins. if castro steps up, that is a big plus for warren.
really sad to see him go, but really glad to have him on the team.

(3,402 posts)Because youre not a Warren supporter?
Biden would probably choose a female running mate, but we wont know unless he becomes the candidate.
Candidates dont always choose their running mate based on how much they like each other. And Castro didnt bash Biden in this statement, he just supported Warren. So I doubt this endorsement changes his chances of being VP, regardless of who the candidate is.

(1,701 posts)That there is one candidate I see who's unafraid to fight like hell.
The fact is every Democrat in the race is unafraid to fight like hell.
No matter, he's blown his political future with his numerous attacks on fellow Democratic candidates during this campaign in my estimation.

(3,402 posts)This is how campaigning works. The players bash each other (usually much harder than excluding them from a list of people who are being praised) during the primaries, then gather together to support the eventual winner once one is decided. The man who coined the term Voodoo Economics became Reagans VP. This is how the sausage is made, and Castro has done nothing out of the ordinary.

(3,402 posts)He called him the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy, which is exactly the kind of coded racist language that has been used against African Americans forever. He apologized and became Obamas friend and running mate later. Hes not above this, no matter how you try to spin it.

This...is how...its done. Ted Kennedy viciously attacked Jimmy Carter in the primaries, and we all got over it. There are numerous other examples. Castros criticisms were quite mild by comparison to some.

(17,413 posts)I am still undecided, but I do think Biden is highly likely to win the nomination.
In many threads here and in the media, Castro is touted as a potential running mate for Biden, all Im saying is that this endorsement makes it pretty clear both men know that is not going to happen.

(441 posts)Having served alongside Biden it may be that;
There is some animosity between them
Castro knows Biden doesn't want to work with him
Castro doesn't want to work with Biden
Castro knows the direction that Biden is likely to go and disagrees with it.
This isn't out of left field. Castro knows who will embrace his agenda best.

i know my rep, jan schakowky, is on team warren, and that should make joe quake in his boots. if you want to know why obama won iowa, and how he took all but one state adjacent to illinois, here we call it the lean, mean, 9th district machine.

both of them speak to my core principles- if babies and mothers are not supported, your civilization is a failure.
and they do it was a fulsome picture of the problems and the solutions.
this is a thing i could go on about all.day.every.day.
sometimes i do.
but this is the key to it all.
