(15,182 posts)This is terrible! And I had her on my list for this year's election. Why would she do this, indeed?

(67,782 posts)...who are Senators.
Most of the confirmation votes have been in the 90 range, with nays around 10.
The good thing is she was available to vote.

(3,328 posts)I'm going to guess the one-third she voted against are the ones who are un-qualified and are not approved by the American Bar association. That's the striking statistic here. The overwhelming candidates that are unqualified and not approved by the ABA. You gotta figure one or two would typically fit this bill, but one-third!!?? Jesus, November can't get here fast enough!!!

(6,139 posts)if she confirmed any obvious rw nuts. Nothing more important than judges. Federal courts are important cause vast majority cases never reach SC. Also, SC is not a co-equal branch of government, it is FAR more powerful than the entire senate and president combined. Its power is virtually limitless.

(115,103 posts)As to why the no one has questioned her on why - especially the anti-LGBTQ one - your guess is as good as mine.

(19,204 posts)I'm not saying it hasn't been posted before, just that I haven't seen it before. I think we should keep posting it until every Democrat knows this fact.

(115,103 posts)The Minnesota Democrat is an outlier among 2020 presidential candidates
Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) has supported more of President Donald Trumps judicial nominees than the other Democratic senators running for president as well as the majority of her Democratic Senate colleagues.
Although she was one of the most outspoken critics of Trump-appointed Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch during their nomination processes, Klobuchar, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, has voted yes on more than 56% of Trumps judicial nominees who were eventually confirmed a higher rate than 32 of the other 46 senators who are members of or caucus with the Democratic Party.
Other than Klobuchar, each of the senators running for the Democratic presidential nomination has voted to confirm fewer than half of Trumps judicial nominees. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) voted to confirm 41%, and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) voted for 42%. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) also voted to confirm 42%, and was absent for two votes; of those he voted on, Sanders voted to confirm 43%. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) voted to confirm 40% of Trumps judicial nominees, but missed 10 votes; of the nominees he voted on, he voted to confirm 45%. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) voted to confirm 45% of Trumps nominees, but missed three votes; of those she voted on, Harris voted to confirm 47%.
Ten Democratic senators and one Independent who caucuses with Democrats voted to confirm more of Trumps judicial nominees than Klobuchar. They are Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV), Jon Tester (D-MT), Mark Warner (D-VA), Doug Jones (D-AL), Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Angus King (I-ME), Michael Bennet (D-CO), Tim Kaine (D-VA), Tom Carper (D-DE), and Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH). In addition, Sens. Chris Coons (D-DE), Chris Murphy (D-CT), and Jack Reed (D-RI) matched Klobuchar by voting yes on 55 of Trumps 97 judicial nominees.

And this
...
Additionally, as a Minnesota Supreme Court justice, Stras in 2012 joined an opinion allowing an anti-gay marriage amendment to come intact to the ballot with a title obscuring its purpose and effect. Minnesota voters ended up rejecting the amendment anyway.
Along with Sen. Doug Wilson (Ala.), Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.) former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) Sen. Mark Warner (Va.), former Sen. Heidi Heithkamp (N.D.) and former Sen. Joe Donnelly (Ind.), Klobuchar was among seven Democrats who joined Republicans in voting for Stras. The vote in January 2018 was otherwise along party lines, 56-42.
Ironically, Klobuchar voted for Stras even though she wasnt consulted on the judicial pick, which was a customary part of the confirmation process before the Trump era, and recommended other choices for the judicial seat.

(1,086 posts)She will answer, but unlike several Senators I can name she isn't into symbolic votes and actually works her job.
Did she use these votes as a swap to get rid of an even worse possibility?
The one thing you get with Amy is a player of the game. You do not get to be by many measures the most effective Senator of her generation without that ability. Which is precisely why she will be the best possible president we have out of the group running right now.
