Why only Biden can beat Trump.............

For a Democrat to win the presidency.....

He needs an enthusiastic African American turnout for him. An MSNBC poll I saw shows Biden at 49% support for Joe. The next was Bernie and Warren were at 13%. Others were lower.
And Obama has not started campaigning for Biden yet!

He needs the majority of the Independent vote. Independents are not going to turn out for a Socialist. Warren's policies will be easy to brand as Socialist and Bernie says he is a Socialist.

Although I consider myself a Socialist, I want to beat Trump.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Isn't just beating trump, he will massively beat trump. It's possible another candidate could squeek out a win, but trump will contest ANY and ALL close states. He will tie them up and prevent the results from being certified.

Then he just stays in power.

The victory needs to be large enough to eliminate any possible challenge or recount. Plus, the hackers will be busy so we need to overcome that as well.

That's why I support joe. He has the biggest advantage and is a known quantity, so few surprises are likely. He has been tested and vetted and attacked. Other candidates haven't been.

He has broad support, and doesn't scare independents and people who just can't bring themselves to vote for trump against someone like joe. Even if they just stay home, that is a win. But if they are going to vote for any dem, it will be joe. If they are going to vote to stop a dem, we don't need that.

I believe there are several candidates who can beat Trump, but we certainly do need a big win, so republicans cannot steal the election with their numerous underhanded tactics. They've done it before and they'll try it again.

re: "Biden at 49% support for Joe. The next was Bernie and Warren were at 13%."

Even if Biden is first choice for 49%, that doesn't mean that those voters may not like Bernie or Warren almost as much, just not enough to displace Biden as first choice. It doesn't necessarily correspond to less enthusiasm for whichever of them is the nominee against Trump in November.

Not a good choice of words these days. Many older folks equate the word with that very old bugaboo, "Communist".

although I think the AA vote (and all our constituencies) will coalesce around the nominee, whoever it is. We’ve seen what happens when we stay home or vote 3rd party. The differences among our candidates are tiny compared to the chasm to the other side, and people will be motivated to end this nightmare as much as anything else.

I don’t think the low numbers of AA support for Pete is due to anything about him personally, it’s more that Biden has locked up that support at this stage. Kind of hard to compete with the VP to the first black president, and a safe choice who is likely to trounce Trump.

Biden’s been around forever, and they couldn’t find any real dirt on him, so they had to manufacture it. That’s a good sign. Plus he’s very well liked; we can thank a lot of funny memes of him and Obama that helped his name recognition, along with his good record.

No other candidate can say they have Pennsylvania in the bag, and are in the box seat for Michigan and Wisconsin.
