Biden charges Sanders camp 'doctored video' to attack him

The video in question — of Biden’s 2018 remarks to the Brookings Institution think tank — was not doctored by Sanders.

(snip)

“Let’s get the record straight,” Biden said at Simpson College here. “There’s a little, doctored video going around ... saying I agreed with Paul Ryan, the former vice presidential candidate, about wanting to privatize Social Security.”

But the video in question — of Biden’s 2018 remarks to the Brookings Institution think tank — was not doctored by Sanders, whose campaign this month stepped up criticisms of Biden’s record on Social Security.

Sanders’ campaign did say in a recent campaign email that “Biden lauded Paul Ryan for proposing cuts to Social Security and Medicare” — which PolitiFact said Sanders’ campaign got wrong. But there is no evidence that the campaign doctored any video.

Biden, however, referenced the fact-checking website in making a muddled claim: “PolitiFact looked at it and they doctored the photo, they doctored the piece and it’s acknowledged that it’s a fake.”

1. That's BS. Even PolitiFact has called what Sirota said was false:

"In 2018, Biden lauded Paul Ryan for proposing cuts to Social Security and Medicare."
— Bernie Sanders on Tuesday, January 7th, 2020 in newsletter from the Bernie Sanders campaign

"We rate this statement False."

When is this stuff going to stop, from the Sanders campaign, his surrogates, AND his followers? I guess they're having trouble getting traction on their own message so they have to distort their opponents' messages.

6. Bernie didn't doctor any video which Biden claimed, that's the point of this OP

Politifact doesn't even address Bernie's campaign doctoring a video.

8. Bernie didn't, but his 3rd in charge did. Surely you've seen the video in question, didn't you?

Sirota retweeted it about 20 on Thursday and Friday, sometimes five minutes apart. The video is what Sirota based on newsletter on.

Come on, let's conduct a real campaign, not a smear campaign.

Edit: Sirota just tweeted it AGAIN 15 minutes ago. Please don't tell me you haven't seen this 19 second video before:

10. Here's the video as Sirota just tweeted AGAIN 15 minutes ago. Biden was on the floor of the Senate..

His video is only 19 seconds, Biden spoke for more than four minutes. Cutting out the beginning and the end, totaling four minutes, is DOCTORING! BTW, Briahna Gray and Faiz have also retweeted this over and over again. This is disgusting.

3. Here is what Politifact has to say about it:
Sat Jan 18, 2020, 09:19 PM

The Sanders campaign omitted what Biden said next: the importance of protecting Social Security and Medicare and to change the tax code, which he said benefitted the mega rich. Overall, the point of Biden’s speech was to criticize tax cuts for the rich and call for more help to the middle class.

The Sanders campaign plucked out part of what Biden said but omitted the full context of his comments.

We rate this statement False.

https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2020/jan/09/bernie-sanders/did-biden-laud-paul-ryan-proposal-cut-social-secur/

Plucking certain parts out and omitting other parts to the effect of putting Biden's comment on its head...

Will you accept "creative montage" instead of "doctoring"?

Bernie once again doing the work of the corporate media... Joe needs to put out a better statement and evolve quick.
