Elizabeth Warren brings boundless energy, 'I can fix it' attitude to presidential race

Warren on the road in Iowa: Snippets below.

...
So what are Warren’s big ideas?

Ending corruption in Washington: In Vinton, she says, “When you see a government that works great for those with money and not so well for everyone else, that’s corruption pure and simple. Let’s attack the corruption head on. It’s time to go on offense against money in Washington, and I’ve got a plan for that. Yeah!” Her plans: Ban the revolving door of politicians and lobbyists, and “make every single person who runs for federal office put their tax returns online. All of them! There we go!”

Two-cent wealth tax: In Mount Vernon, Warren spells out her idea: “Here’s my plan. This is about your accumulated assets. Your first $50 million is free and clear. But your 50 millionth and first dollar, you’ve got to pitch in two cents, and two cents for every dollar after that. All we’re saying is, if you make it big, I mean really big, top one-tenth of 1% big, pitch in two cents so everybody else has a chance to make it in this country.” Then, like a musician hitting the crescendo of a symphony, Warren weaves into her vision. “Here comes the fun part. What can we do with just two cents? We can do universal child care for every baby in the country; we can do universal pre-K for every child; we can raise the wages of every child care worker in the country; we can make technical school and community college tuition free; we can make a $50 billion dollar investment in historically black colleges. That’s how we build a future. I’m still on the same two cents! Oh, and we can cancel student loan debt for 95% of those who have it.”

Universal health care: Warren supports a Medicare for All system in which employers and citizens pay what they previously would have paid to insurance companies to Medicare, then Medicare pays out to their doctors and medical providers. In Vinton, she says, “Health care is a basic human right. We leave no one behind. So for me that’s what Medicare for All is all about. It is the way that we make sure that everyone in this country gets to see the doctors they want to see and take the medicines the doctors prescribe, because there’s no insurance company in the middle to say, ‘Sorry, we don’t authorize that.’ ”
...
At the Vinton town hall, Jan from Cedar Rapids stood up, grabbed the microphone, and asked: “You are famous for your plans. But it has been said that Elizabeth Warren has a plan for everything except how to beat Donald Trump. So how are you going to beat Donald Trump?”

Elizabeth Warren smiled and then laughed. “All right! I like the question, Jan!” She told Jan that the key is not being anti-Trump but being for big ideas that will transform people’s lives, and with the crowd applauding with each point, she outlined her policy vision, then ended with the call that could win her Iowa: “My view about how I’m going to win? I tell people two things: I know what’s broken and I know how to fix it. So come help me do it!”

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
