Call me crazy...

and get in line.

Better, in this case, to call me extremely biased, but I think that a prominent contender for Veep consideration is Dayton's own mayor Nan Whaley:

Whaley was first elected to the Dayton City Commission in 2005, Nan was one of the youngest women ever chosen for a commission seat. Nan served on the Montgomery County Board of Elections and as a deputy to Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith. Whaley was elected mayor of Dayton in 2013, winning 56 percent of the vote. In 2017, she was unopposed for reelection, making it the first uncontested mayoral race in the city’s history since voters have elected the office separately. Before her election as Mayor she served on Greater Ohio’s Community Revitalization Committee, the Learn to Earn Executive Committee for Education, the Montgomery County Planning Commission and the Dayton Access Television Board of Trustees.

Early in her political career Whaley, while in college, was instrumental in reorganizing the College Democrats and later served as Ohio Chair of the College Democrats. Whaley is also a four-time delegate to the Democratic National Convention, worked for John Kerry's presidential campaign, and served as a presidential elector.

Ahead of the 2018 election cycle, Whaley considered a run for Congress before declaring her candidacy for Governor of Ohio. On May 8, 2017, Whaley announced that she was running for Governor in the 2018 election on a platform of job creation. She dropped out of the race on January 12, 2018, and endorsed Richard Cordray.

Mayor Whaley, as proven by her extensive national exposure last year following the Oregon District mass shooting, is a remarkably approachable woman, perceived (correctly) as truly authentic. She and her husband still live in a ghettoized neighborhood and she is a fixture throughout the area. It's uncommon not to run into her at a local event, eatery, or house party.

She is unabashedly liberal, though-well received by the vast majority of the area's residents. Her most notable dustups have been with a small group of neo-progs over their ridiculously juvenile and unproductive antics. That's a plus to me, and even many in that group have an otherwise affectionate relationship with her.

Nan is everywoman, with the expertise and chops to help make a formidable team come November.

AFAIK, there is no movement whatsoever to encourage her to run. Senator Sherrod Brown believes she is destined for higher office, so consider this as, perhaps, the first endorsement.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I think she's had less national exposure than you may think.

I realize that the fact I haven't heard of her before this post may simply be an indication of how large the rock I live under is.

But still, I'm not sure that no matter who the nominee ends up to be, a little known Mayor may not be a very good choice. If she does have higher office ambitions, she needs to run for Governor or Senator or even Representative.

I like the idea of a woman and a younger person, but I'm not sure about her.

Mayor of a city about the size of Dayton, and with considerably less legislative experience.

History is replete with unknown V.P. choices, including recent ones. Tim Kaine? Mike Pence? Sarah Palin?

ETA: She would acquit herself quite well by comparison.
