Democratic Attacks on Sanders Are Long Overdue.......🙄🎨

Bernie Sanders' campaign recently stabbed Elizabeth Warren in the back. She was the Vermont senator's comrade in arms. It also threw a pack of lies at Joe Biden, tarring him as corrupt with zero evidence. As former Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin told Politico, Sanders "will play dirty." The Democrat added, "I'm concerned that we're seeing a replay of the kind of dynamics that didn't allow Hillary to win."
The difference between now and 2016, though, is that Sanders' targets are finally hitting back. This outbreak of hostilities among Democrats is not hurting the party. On the contrary. An airing of these grievances is long overdue..

And whether one shares Sanders' political views is irrelevant to this conversation. (I like some of them.)
The danger Sanders poses for the party is that, to him, electing Democrats comes second to building the "movement." This explains why his sidekick, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, is pushing primary challenges to moderate Democrats who won difficult races in swing districts.
The catchphrase on Sanders' website, Our Revolution, is "Campaigns end. Revolutions Endure." Indeed, he and his fellow socialists have latched on to the Democratic Party because having a D after their names is the only way they can win an election.

His been attacking Joe to much...so fair is fair....

It's NOT propaganda that Bernie has placed unrepentant Stein voters in positions of power in his campaign. It's NOT propaganda to say Bernie has allowed some rather bald-faced attacks on other candidates by his surrogates and staff and he does not act until called out on it. It's not propaganda to point out that Bernie always acts in his own political interests and not the party's.

Having said that, I do not advocate attacks on other candidates in the primaries. They are wrong-headed and damaging. They are the one thing that has kept me from openly supporting Warren, who I generally agree with most.

89. If one quotes a number, then one is using specific data to support one's claim.
Sun Jan 26, 2020, 08:55 AM
Jan 2020

That's very different than saying that "The numbers aren't important, but I think that I'm one of many."

When one brings numbers into a discussion, one has made those numbers relevant, and should be ready for fact checking on them.

If one decries being fact checked on one's own stated numbers, then one loses credibility.

Is that clearer?

One reason data is important is because one's impressions of data can be manipulated. The impression of support of a candidate, especially on FaceBook, isn't always indicative of reality:

Since the beginning of 2019, nearly 3,000 active Facebook pages supporting Sanders have generated more than 290 million interactions — meaning shares, likes or other user actions — according to an analysis by Trevor Davis, a research professor at Livingston’s institute. For contrast, about 350 pages devoted to former vice president Joe Biden have generated just 9 million interactions; nearly 300 pro-Warren pages come in at under 20 million interactions.

That breakdown is vastly out of sync with projected support for the candidates in polls, which show Sanders gaining ground but still behind Biden in an average of surveys. This underscores a new reality: Facebook gives individual users power over public discourse disproportionate to their authority at the ballot box.

Numbers are concrete things. If you state that there is a %, then that's quantifiable number.

Please provide your sources, or admit that you are not basing it on any analysis of polls, but an "idea" you have, that changes to support your statements.

half of the 80 percent don’t care, aren’t paying attention, like Sanders and his proposals but may vote for someone else, don’t have heartburn over Sanders’ views, aren’t hateful of Sanders, have other things to worry about ....

I also think that "supporting Sanders" seems to be defined by some as = thinking that he is not capable of making mistakes, or agreeing lockstep with everything he says, and thinking that there is no reason or room for him improving.

Any questioning of his methods, the factual basis of a given statement, or any acknowledgement of any flaws, in my experience, is equated with "attacks" or "smearing," both by his supporters and his campaign.

I think he would have been a much more productive career politician, and therefore a stronger candidate if there was less of this dualistic thinking on his part, and by extension his campaign.

Oddly, Sanders is also the leading #2 choice for Biden supporters, acording to Morning Consult. Plenty of fun numbers to look at.

17. Will attacks really move the needle? Does it matter?
Fri Jan 24, 2020, 10:04 AM
Jan 2020

If Sanders has broad support in the Democratic party, he might win the nomination. If he does not have sufficient support in this cycle, as he did not four years ago, then he will not be the nominee.

Will attacks on Biden by Sanders or on Sanders by Biden really change mines here? Is there really any movement from all of the attacks?

I guess I'm just extremely skeptical that attacks on any of the leading candidates will change mines. It will get pressed, it will arouse supporters of the candidate making the attacks and anger supporters of the person being attacked, but no one will change their mind. The needle will not budge.

I welcome people being forthright and all, but I seriously disagree that attacks will do much at this point to change the race.

Personally, I find the attacks on Sanders and the attacks on Biden to be mean-spirited and thoughtless.

Bernie has:

Nina Turner who is a nasty piece of work. I know because I am from Ohio and
have seen her act for years.

David Sirota an anti Hillary attack dog who helped to spread falsehoods about her
in 2016 some of which were from the DNC/HRC computer files that the Russians
stole, edited, and then spread on facebook. This helped to convince a # of Bernie
Bros to vote for Stein and or not vote at all.

Some woman who was paid by and worked for Jill Stein in 2016. Stein was part and
parcel of the Russian rat fucking of the 2016 election.

If you are correct and Bernie does not get the nomination, whoever does get it will need the votes of Bernie's supporters in November. But if some of those voters are alienated by the process that denied Bernie the nomination then our ticket might have problems in a close GE.

Yesterday on the radio, Katrina vanden Heuvel made the remark that since Independents are now a larger constituency than Democrats, it is political suicide to alienate the Bernie supporters.

So go ahead, commit political suicide. Enjoy your Trumpy world through 2024 because you sure are doing your best to alienate independents.

I will happily vote for Bernie or for Elizabeth. If Amy gets the nomination, I'm still happy. Buttigieg, still okay. I'm not familiar enough with some of the others to have a strong opinion.

But trying to pit Bernie against Elizabeth will not help me like Joe better. (Of course, I'd vote for any Democrat in a final election.)

Elizabeth Warren's retaliation for his campaign making the case that he has broader support than she backfired terribly.

Bernie is up while Elizabeth dipped a bit and now is flat.
