(20,709 posts)He has a youtube talk show where he interviews people, lots of times he says offensive things and gets into conspiracy theories and that sort of thing. I don't particularly like him, I've seen clips of him saying stuff I agree with and I've seen clips of him saying stuff that is totally idiotic. I don't know his political views, but he's definitely got an audience.

(20,709 posts)Part of me wants to chalk it up to the social issue/economic issue dichotomy. I think a lot of centrist Dems are willing to go along with things like social security cuts or deregulation and tax cuts, but are ardent in their opposition to any compromise on social issues. Not even compromise -- it's not like Bernie shares Rogan's views on trans rights or is going to change his platform to accommodate anti-trans or anti-LGBT voters.
Which, fine, if people think economic issues are less important than social issues, that's a consistent point of view.
But as this tweet shows, it's not really even that. It's just a question of personally disliking one candidate or another.

(10,500 posts)I was never a fan of Tim Kaine's selection, but let's keep the facts straight.
Part of the challenge that Hillary faced is that many Bernie supporters were actually convinced that she was going to appoint pro-life Republican judges. I am sure Cenk Uygur and TYT played a big role in that.
By the end of that election Bernie had turned her into Joe Lieberman, the entire history of career notwithstanding.

Tim Kaine is not pro life. He personally does not like abortion, but believes it is the womans CHOICE to make and govt shouldnt be involved in it.
All of the right wingers consider this position.......pro-choice.

(34,857 posts)I don't know where this guy was back then, but the outrage was massive and Warren didn't even endorse Obama, just gave an invocation at his inaugural...and he certainly didn't go around touting it.

(38,687 posts)That's pretty much a damn lie. He did way more than that. Much more If you're going to do whataboutism at least be honest. You act like no one was awake last night when this went down and the campaign joined in and pushed this endorsement. The whole crew. Retweeted and thanked. Lie.

(38,687 posts)I was on Nina Turner's Twitter page looking for the video she posted last night celebrating this. Gone.
But I found another. LOL

I'm at someone's house where there are people who actually had to stand in line for food. A lot. Almost daily. I showed them this. "That's a good thing." Fuck him. He lost South Florida badly in 2016...he's going to lose again. 'That's a good thing."

(109,020 posts)He supports a woman's right to choose. While his personal view is that abortion is wrong, he doesn't try to impose his views on others. His record on abortion since entering the Senate is very strong.
Millions of Catholics share his position. Should they all be excluded from the party?

But ever since Kaine entered the Senate in 2012, he has had a perfect pro-choice voting record, according to NARAL Pro-Choice America and Planned Parenthood. He also insists that issues of reproductive choice and intimacy are personal decisions that the government has no place interfering with. "I deeply believe, and not just as a matter of politics but even as a matter of morality, that matters about reproduction and intimacy and relationships and contraception are in the personal realm," he said in a recent NBC interview.
Some reproductive rights advocates remain deeply frustrated that Clinton would pick Kaine. They say its not enough just to vote the right way when abortion rights are under attack in America. Theyre working to combat the stigma of abortion, and find attitudes like Kaines counterproductive.
At the same time, Kaine genuinely seems to have evolved on the issue of reproductive rights as many in the Democratic Party have in recent years. And some advocates dont want to dismiss the value of that.

(2,706 posts)A choice is personal to a woman, then you have to be ok with the fact that others disagree with that personal choice.
Kaine is pro-choice. Period.

(14,176 posts)that Obama invited an anti-LGBTQ minister to speak at his inaugural, so I have no idea what brand of historical revisionism the tweet is trying to sell.
