Sanders allies in new uproar over DNC convention appointments

The Hill

Some Democratic National Committee (DNC) members and supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) are venting frustration at DNC chairman Tom Perez over his initial appointments to the committees that will oversee the rules and party platform at the nominating convention in Milwaukee later this year.

Sanders’s allies are incensed by two names in particular - former Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), who will co-chair the rules committee, and Hillary Clinton’s former campaign chairman John Podesta, who will have a seat on that committee.

The Sanders campaign unsuccessfully sought to have Frank removed from the rules committee in 2016, describing him as an “aggressive attack surrogate for the Clinton campaign.”

And Podesta, a longtime Washington political consultant and Clinton confidante, is viewed with contempt by some on the left. One of Podesta’s hacked emails from 2016 showed him asking a Democratic strategist where to “stick the knife in” Sanders, who lost the nomination to Clinton after a divisive primary contest.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

AOC was a rising star until she allied with Bernie. Elizabeth Warren has many of the same policies as Bernie yet she doesn't get bashed.

I was trying to play too many instruments, so I gave up bluegrass. I was never a great banjo player anyhow. I could pick my way through most anything, but didn't spend enough time mastering the thing. Story of my life. I was part of a quartet that played bluegrass music, but our real plus was our singing. Not so much the instrumental part. We played all over the place, though, back in the early to mid 60s. We even played at the Monterey folk festival one year, over in the corner, with a small audience. I even got to meet Joan Baez at that festival, which was pretty overwhelming for me as a skinny 19-year-old kid. She was nice enough, though, and smiled a lot.
"Keep practicing," she said, after hearing us play and sing.

Tue Jan 28, 2020, 04:56 PM
Jan 2020

Not long after I picked up the banjo, I went to a music store to buy some new strings and some finger picks, since I was starting to learn Scruggs-style picking. There was a guy in the store, just playing the life out of a Bacon 5-string. I listened to him for a while, and said, as only a 16-year-old kid would, "How long have you been playing the banjo."

"About six months," the guy replied. Depressed the hell out of me, until I realized that he was making a joke. Then he said, "I can give you lessons kid..." But, I had no money for lessons, so I took my strings and shiny National finger picks and went back to my books of banjo tablature and learned on my own.

divisive and feeds Trumpist goals without even being conscious of that fact. Certainly progressives, a large and vocal minority within our party, needs its agenda to be heard, an opportunity to influence leadership, and to have its candidates represented fairly and equally with
those of a more majority viewpoint.

But Bernie-ism is driving a wedge, justifying support for a loathsome racist now, threatening defection, proud to employ dirty tactics...

Its leader needs to renounce this divisiveness and dirty, desperate politicking.

Yes, I absolutely agree that that particular brand does no service to progressive ideals and harms

Aligning himself with the right once again.

Please note, sarcasm thingy added. I don’t know how to get that fancy red thing but Barney Frank is a champion of the left and a champion of actually getting things done. He was a champion when working for Kevin White, he was a champion when working for Michael Harrington he was in the Massachusetts State House and in the US House. It’s easy to sit on the sidelines and complain of the work others have done. He passed actual legislation and took progressive stands when it was not as easy or popular an it is now. He is a true Hero and a true Champion for progressive causes.

You'll never hear Barney Frank calling the Democratic party "feeble" or "ideologically bankrupt". Barney Frank won't be accusing the Democratic party of being "corrupt" and he won't be calling Democrats "the party of the elite" and "the party of the one-percent". Barney Frank does not hate the Democratic party and he does not proclaim the party to be "an absolute failure."

Frank doesn't accuse Democrats of being "do-nothings", and he doesn't accuse Democrats of "focusing 'too-much' on Diversity". And something else about Barney Frank's character: he doesn't defend or make excuses for racists... he knows that if someone refuses to vote for a candidate because of his/her skin color... then that voter is indeed a racist.

Thank GOD for Barney Frank, DEMOCRAT!

"They are so afraid of Joe Biden. This is unbelievable. Their entire day was focused on their #1 fear." "Yesterday on the senate floor they kept attacking Biden. That is a godsend for Joe Biden."

The Republican's Tuesday impeachment "trial" message: "It didn't happen, it doesn't matter if it did, and Joe Biden sucks."

Tue Jan 28, 2020, 10:04 AM

the 2016 Convention DNC platform committee. The DNC had elevated him to the position on the committee as an olive branch Bernie's campaign.

West rewarded them and the Democratic Party by joining up with Stein after having a hissy fit with the committee.

To my knowledge, West has never apologized for his part in getting Trump into the White House.

Bernie is the Cleveland Browns of candidates. They are hyped to high heaven early on only to inevitably be crushed later. Occasionally they may have a shot of playing spoiler and rob someone superior of a chance at winning. This opens the door for undeserving people to win.

Like Trump.
