Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren have picked up a joint endorsement from Unite Here Local 11, the union that was involved in a labor dispute that threatened to derail a December Democratic debate.
“Senators Sanders and Warren are both fighting for the change we need in our nation. They understand the needs of workers at UNITE HERE Local 11," Ada Briceo, co-president of Unite Here Local 11, said in a statement.
The union represents 32,000 people in Arizona and California. A Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies poll released Tuesday found Mr. Sanders, the Vermont senator, was leading in California with the support of 26% of likely Democratic primary voters. Ms. Warren, a senator from Massachusetts, was second with 20%, followed by former Vice President Joe Biden at 15%.
The executive board of Unite Here Local 11 voted unanimously to endorse both candidates.
