For starters, I think Comey's antics were more than just one factor. I think he turned that race upside down at the end, after already having done enormous damage to her with his disgusting July press conference. If you eliminate Comey she would have destroyed Trump.

I also think the Basket of Deplorables was turned into a much bigger moment after the election was over than it ever was during the election. At the time it was said, people were much more concerned with the fact that she fell down on 9/11. And I don't think it ever took off as a damaging incident the way the Mitt Romney's 47 percent comment did, or even Barack Obama's comment about getting bitter and clinging to guns and religion. After the race ended, and she lost, people started to develop their narratives about HRC getting a comeuppance for doing things wrong, and this was gleefully placed on the list.

But my interpretation of their respective effects on the race is very different than yours is.
