If it comes down to those two, things will change. The US will not vote for someone who has ever embraced the word "socialist" in any way at all. I don't care about what is really meant by it or anything. That will destroy any chance he has.

I will take any of our candidates, Bernie, included over Dear Impeached Leader. However, we will be in a Nixon-McGovern situation if he's our candidate.

17. Poll: Americans Won't Vote for a Socialist
Tue Feb 11, 2020, 08:51 PM
Feb 2020

The Democratic primary field has been the most diverse in history, featuring African-Americans, women, a Latino, an Asian-American and a man in a same-sex marriage. The lineup has Democrats bragging about how their offers represent modern America, tempered by worries about the ''electability'' of the nontraditional candidates.
]
But according to a Gallup poll released Tuesday, Americans overwhelmingly are just fine with voting for a woman, as well as a black, Hispanic or (to a somewhat lesser extent) gay candidate. The sort of candidate a majority of Americans reject?

Socialist.

The category was the only one which had a majority of Americans, 53%, declaring they would not cast a ballot for a candidate so described (45% say they would vote for a well-qualified socialist).

The numbers are a bit of a warning bell for Sen. Bernie Sanders, a self-described Democratic socialist who is a top contender for the Democratic nomination for president. President Donald Trump has repeatedly thrown out the word ''socialist'' to tar Sanders, Democrats as a party, and various policy initiatives such as Medicare for All.

In 2016 the boomers blamed Trump on the millenials when they didn’t show up because the DNC torpedoed Bernie in favor of HRC.

Starting to look like in 2020 the millenials might get to lay the blame Trump 2.zero on the boomers for not being able to look past their prejudice against the word “socialism” and staying home.

Shitty thing is, we end up getting another 4 years of the orange turd.

20. Bernie Wins...
Tue Feb 11, 2020, 09:30 PM
Feb 2020

...the difference between Bernie and trump is the greatest of differences of any two Presidential contenders in my lifetime...there will be no ambiguous choice...

...trump has moved our nation's politics and rhetoric so far to the Right that it makes Progressive Bernie look like a moderate centrist...it's not so much what we think or what the pukes think, it's what that 20% in the middle thinks of Bernie...and that 20% in the middle is much closer to Bernie than to a trump...

...Bernie can easily champion the label 'Democratic Socialist' as nothing more than embracing the policies and programs similar to our late great President, Franklin Delano Roosevelt...only people 60+ are shaken by the word 'Commie' when in reality, trump's the only one who's been rolling around in bed with Commies...

...Bernie has the great ability to connect one-on-one with the voter...in interviews, he comes across serious, thoughtful, reasonable and even-tempered...but on stage at a rally or on stage when confronted with the likes of a trump, Bernie can breathe fire, point and wag that weaponized finger and verbally slay the most ardent of foes...

...just watch, Bernie can do it...

If Sanders is the nominee I won't waste time paying attention. Fear is unfortunately too powerful and too easily spread.

After the 2018 example with Andrew Gillum I think Floridians have better grasp of how easily the socialist label attaches and dictates the outcome. South Florida Hispanics were abusing that word all day every day even though they didn't know what it meant.
