Here, he's right in principle that both parties should be subject to 702 restrictions. Dragnet uses of 702 have existed and been abused. He's right to have this FISA bill debated. The Senate DOES have a choice to be deliberative.

Republicans of the House are not as interested in Jack Smith's finding out who's communicating with Putin or Russian hackers, or who's consorting with MAGA on the dark net by direct access remote, as rethugs are in abusing their already trumpian interest.
What rethugs really want is for House Republicans to go on a mass fishing expedition to find any info on any Democratic communications.
IMO, this kind of bill should never be allowed to exist when written by ANY current Republican.

Wyden is a badass, good progressive, supporter of tech, hackers, and a fairly regular attendee of DEF CON.

He knows it's important to keep netizens engaged with the issues and problems of good governance.

This is some context re what he speaks of at DEF CON. It goes back few years but is still relevant.
