Jerry Seinfeld Thinks WOKENESS Is Why He's Irrelevant Now

Family Guy and South Park are proof you can be edgy as F__ck and do great. Seinfeld just isn't funny and can't handle young people not laughing at his lame, outdated comedy.

I lost respect for Seinfeld years ago during his appearance on Larry King. Larry was literally setting him up for an absolute slam dunk of an ego boost but Jerry is so sensitive he ruined it before it could blossom

If you crack some south park or family guy humor you can absolutely get mobbed by the humor police. Things do get outdated but as someone who was an adamant believer in a lot of things called woke but got mobbed by performative more-woke so called progressives in my past… let’s just say I have concerns now.

helping his career much. I sort of enjoyed it, but you need to be over 60 to get much of the humor in it

People have moved on but he hasn’t and now blames “woke” and whatever because he’s no longer relevant. Some people need that hook from vaudeville to exit the stage.

* Began dating a 17 year old girl, Shoshanna Lonstein.
* Began dating a newlywed bride, later marrying her. Problem: Her newlywed husband came from a family that essentially controls ALL the theaters in NYC. Good luck with those bookings.
* Seinfeld's show didn't highlight anything witty, funny. It was cynical, sarcastic, and sardonic. You can only take so much of that.
* Seinfeld hasn't developed any new material.
* Is Seinfeld saying he'd be back as The Toast of NYC if he could only be received as a comic by being allowed to insult certain demographics?

Since Trump does it SO biglier, louder, and constantly, it is just annoying. We're tired of it, Jer, READ THE ROOM!

It's not 'woke' that ruined Seinfeld's career. His own banality and Trump's usurpation of the position of whiner in chief did that. The fact that Seinfeld won't look out a window at today, or in a mirror at himself, is proved by his looking for an excuse for his fall from public attention.

8. Jerry has reached the price point where he can't be edgy.

Any project he works on will cost millions to produce, partly because of his pay demands.

Backers who put up that kind of money expect a maximum return on their investment.

Therefore, backers willing to pay Jerry's performance fee do not want him to alienate portions of the audience with edgy humor.

If jerry wants to be edgy, he can go to a comedy club, accept a small paycheck, and let rip with whatever offensive humor he wants.

What he can't do is charge folks a massive fee to make an appearance, and then offend the audience.

He's not a victim of "woke lefties", he is a creature of capitalism whose bosses rein him in to maximize profits.

He can be as edgy and offensive as he wants, but he would not make nearly as much money doing so. It would be like Bob Hope doing explicit sex humor. It would not fly with his audience.

If he thinks folks are more sensitive now than in the past, he should study the career of Lenny Bruce, who was destroyed and imprisoned for being "too edgy" in the 1960s. Or watch old sitcoms, where toilets did not exist, and married couples slept in separate beds.

He just needs to get out of his mansion and see what's going on in the world today.

over 12 seasons (to Seinfeld's 9)... just ending this year with quite a bit of "edge."

Edgy can be funny or not--just as "woke as PG" can be as well.

What about that food on airplanes, folks?

His sitcom was was only good because of the characters and the way the plot was ironic and always circled back on itself.

Wait does he bemoan not being able to make fun of alternates to Cuban cigars or something?

Geez.

while demanding more money when "reality" shows starring fresh, new wannabes were so much cheaper, exoic locations or fancy apartments and all.

"Woke" had nothing to do with it. The world just went with the cheaper option, and that meant going on without you.

It's not like anyone ever owed you a career that would last until you died.

Years ago my wife was excited and bought overpriced Seinfeld tickets as a birthday gift.
Never have I showed any interest in seeing Seinfeld
Liked the sitcom though.
I guess I'm a hard person to buy gifts for.
Gotta be nice, so I acted excited.
Granted, I already thought he was an egotistical dick.
Nevertheless, opening act guy was funny as hell.
Seinfeld was barely funny at all. Dick comedy, as it were.
Comedians in Cars shows him for who he is.

Sorry it's too pc now for you and John Cleese to use the "n" word. Go back to your penthouse and spend your Seinfeld residuals. At least Jason Alexander gets it and he's relevant.
