Grandpa and grandma were dirt poor farmers that struggled with poverty and voted R. Grandma lives in Section 8 for Senior Citizens and still continues to vote R.
My mom worked for a union making $4 an hour, which at that time was decent money. Then, Ronald Reagan started busting union jobs and my mom switched to Democratic and has voted that way ever since.
Yes, our house was politically aware and I remember certain topics being discussed in great detail.

Pretty sure my Mom was a "closeted Democrat" at least at the polls behind the curtain.

My parents were Democrats. I was the closest to Republican in the family 😂
