He made a well publicized racist rant on stage as well in the 70s when he was so trashed he could barely play. He was really fucked up in the mid 70s and frequently cancelled shows. Its all documented in his biographical documentary. But after he lost his son he seemed to get his shit together and his priorities straight. He payed homage to his blues roots and heroes like BB through the late 80s and 90s also charity benefits. He seemed to be a moral redemption story in which tragedy shook him awake. Then covid happened and he seemed to forget all that and start showing his ass regularly…
