(524 posts)I have seen a lot of mugshots (there are internet websites devoted to them) and they seem to fall into four categories:
(a) Arrestees frightened or contrite, looking nervous or every crying
(b) Arrestees looking relatively calm and even dignified
(c) Arrestees trying to conceal themselves by distorting their appearance (e.g. puffing out their cheeks) or refusing to pose
(d) Arrestees looking, like Trump, glaring at the camera, as if they could intimidate the viewer.
Trump's pose and composition of his face, furrowing his brow and effectively leading with his eyebrows, seems to me to be an attempt to bully the viewer - who might be a jury member. This sort of mugshot suggests to me an awareness of guilt with a tough guy veneer to challenge anyone who might make him answerable.
