(14,616 posts)But there are a number of totally outstanding movies that aren't on this list.
1. The Godfather. Arguably one of the best movies ever made.
2. Pulp Fiction. Classic Americana. Very funny, but serious at the same time because the things you find yourself laughing at really aren't funny.
3. Harry Potter - yeah I know it is like 9 movies, but still...
4. LOTR - I know it doesn't 'fit' the books, but it is amazing standing alone.
A bunch of others.
The Stand is good
The William Hurt/Saskia Reeves version of Dune. That was a miniseries.
The Wizard of Oz
Outlaw Josie Wales
Men in Black
This list caused some good memories. My favorites on your list are Star Wars, Jaws, Casablanca, Raiders and Titanic. Remember at the Oscars when As Good as it Gets (also a great movie) was against Titanic, and Jack Nicholson won in one of the categories - he got up there and joked that since Titanic pretty much swept that year, he had that 'sinking feeling.' Very funny. Jack is a bit...crazy...though.
