make sure to compromise as many important people as you can - and the whole system, if possible.

That's why what I strongly suspect about his role, if in fact true, will never come out - because it could undermine U.S. standing abroad very seriously (and for a long time).

Even if, it could be explained that he went around the CIA and Pentagon by resorting to mercenaries (like he did in Venezuela with Operation Gideon about that same time - albeit with no success).
