Something I can't understand is why he is now admitting that he did pay the money. I can see that he wants to defeat the higher felony count by breaking that chain of evidence. But, now the public knows for sure that he did make the payment. It is not a "legal expense." Here he is during trial trying to cover up the cover up. It won't make a lot of sense to most anybody. What a liar. And, he's trying to blame an accountant.
Everybody knows that he cheated on his wife with a sex worker, and then paid her off to keep silent about it before the election. Some "business expense." He would have to testify to that line of malarkey to get that reasoning in front of the jury, so maybe he really intends to testify. I dunno. But, I agree with you. This case is the simplest to understand, and carries with it the possibility of Trump going to jail for at least a few months.
Thirty-four counts will be hard to defeat. He will have to break the compounding line of evidence in order to come up with even just a misdemeanor. He should have tried to plead down to a misdemeanor, because now he is even admitting he did it, anyway. It makes no difference. People are now focusing on his drooling mouth rather than his candidacy. I love it. I hope he continues to nod off.
