I've written it recently and will here again: read Family of Secrets by Russ Baker for insight into the Bush-Walker family's many nefarious adventures over generations. Using oil, steel and banking wealth, as well as political connections, they fancied themselves puppet masters and involved this country in numerous shady operations overseas to benefit themselves and other powerful elites while also playing games to take down political foes.
