is different than investing in publicly traded companies that operate in a democratic society.

Having said that, all the offers to look at portfolios are nice and all.... but it's an immediate stop gap. By the time (Fall) that they do this, the impetus to do so will die down, the students won't care, etc. It's buying time and pointless.

There are many wonderful Israeli biomed companies that are doing cutting edge work, and mutual funds do invest in them.

Years ago, I divested from owning Defense Contractors bc I have a moral problem with what they do. But even despite that, I have to constantly read the fine print in the mutual funds I hold in my retirement fund in order to maintain that position. It's labor intensive and intrusive, and the people responsible for this in a multiple billion dollar endowment will find themselves overwhelmed with the task if they have to maintain that level of adherence.
