(28,544 posts)17. None of this would have happened if Columbia didn't start treating
peaceful protesters as criminals. The Hall wouldn't have been occupied, and students wouldn't have felt it necessary to barricade themselves in to protect themselves from the police dragging them out. Dissatisfaction met with violence begets violence. People who feel push back against their feeling of injustice and feel like they have no other options do violent things. This is how October 7th and the rise of Hamas happened in the first place, at a much larger and lethal scale, obviously.
