They just serve as a vehicle for people to vent.
I do know that these demonstrations have managed to promote antisemitism and have not influenced anyone's behavior in the region where the conflict is taking place.
I do know that my Jewish American family feel threatened because in these demonstrations (students or not) people are calling for the death of Jews and the destruction of Israel - a nation established as a safe haven for Jewish people.
Perhaps you didn't grow up with stories from family members who survived pogroms or the Holocaust. The threat is lodged on our DNA. I do know that when I had my third child that I was distressed thinking that if there were another attack on Jewish people, how would I carry three children to safety while I only have two arms. Yes, these fears live in the the minds of Jewish people.
For many of us, these demonstrations are a trigger - especially after the atrocity filled attack on October 7th and many of the protesters celebrating that.
Please think again, Think Again.
