This question breaks down the calcified walls of thought.

If the answer is no, they have that to live with.

If the answer is yes, the conversation can move forward into how we know something is true or not.

Without getting lost in philosophical dead-ends and counting angels on a pin, this is the best question I've found to build bridges.
