They are trying to bring about a reduction in our influence around the world. Mind you, a small part of that influence is OUR messing around in other countries elections. But it is way more than that too. Russia's (Putin's) real problem is our success in sanctions against Russia, enticing countries into NATO, and coordinating major international treaties like the Paris Climate Change agreement, and the Iran Nuclear deal.
