Republicans found 8 women willing to lie about Al Franken, potentially risking perjury charges
and
Senator Gillibrand decided to destroy a Senator she worked with for 8 years for a nascent Presidential bid
and
the entire Democratic Senatorial Caucus and Party leadership was too stupid to see either plot
and

the complaints against Franken -- in aggregate -- were seen as credible and were considered unacceptable in today's society
