(126 posts)When you visit an ER, they always ask the patient about their safety in their home. As you know, because of COVID protocols, visitors are often not permitted in the ER treatment rooms. If they are, the patient is always seen alone before inviting family members into the room. You said your Mother visits the ER because of stress from having no money. The ER would never release her without a social worker visiting her room, and signing her up for needed services. Please dont try to claim the ER you visit doesnt do this. They wouldnt just give you a website to visit, they would have a plan in place. The fact that your Mother often visits ERs would alert them to a potential serious situation at home. Then, the doctor she sees after each ER visit would also be aware of her stress from no money and sometimes no food.
The minute the ER heard she has no food, they would have a social worker set up a meals on wheels or similar program. Please dont say that the ER your mother goes to is the only one in the US ignoring the needs of a hungry senior citizen.
So whats really going on?
