(36 posts)She had several ER visits before going on hospice. I always went into the rooms with her. The only times I wasnt with her were the times that she was taken from her room for a test. I was present when they asked her if she felt safe at home. They asked me if her needs were being met, not her. They asked if we wanted to speak with a social worker. They never just came to the room.
People with Autism can be very high functioning. I dont know any more about Matts situation than what Ive read here, but fixation on a certain course of action is common.
I tend to think that Matt is being truthful. Obviously, he and his mother badly need the services of a social worker. If his parents have taken care of him his whole life, this seems a likely outcome of him now being in the role of caretaker.
