Joined DU on 6 Mar, 2002. I think I was connecting via dial-up modem at the time. The Hay-Days of Move-On, Top 10 Conservative Idiots, and boy, how I miss Bob Boudelang!

I just want to say; "Thank You"! DU is a bastion of sanity in an insane world. Imagine, I once thought GWB was the most ignorant moron to ever occupy the White House.

Even when I've had disagreements with posters, I always walk away thinking that I may have a new way of looking at an issue. So, thanks for that too.

DU caused me to volunteer for my very first Democratic Campaign, and I like to think I helped turn Virginia BLUE, or at least purple.

That's what I am going to do now.

This is not a "goodbye". I will still "lurk" and hope to post occasionally, but I need a break. I am going to phonebank and write letters to the editor and work to get more Democrats elected, locally and nationally. Although I have multiple friends in Canada, I am not going anywhere.

I honestly believe that this upcoming election is for the very survival of American democracy. It could possibly be the last election we get to participate in.

American Democracy is worth fighting for, so that is what I am going to do with my time.
