(111,417 posts)and I think those 3 nurses learned that today. Given how rushed the avearage ER nurse is, they'll probably start putting pressure bandages on everybody, just in case. I always did, it only takes a second and prevents a lot of messes. If you ever have another hole poked into you, ask them to put a pressure bandage on it. You get to do that.
You can get blood out of your clothing. Fresh blood is easy, just flush it with hydrogen peroxide and it's gone. Old blood: rub strong detergent into it, add a little COLD water, and continue to scrub until the fibrin is loosened , the suds are turning brownish, and it looks like the fabric is cleaning up. Rinse with COLD water and repeat the process if you need to..
If it's in your running shoes, scrub the blood with detergent and throw into the washer with COLD water.
As you can tell from the caps, you need to use COLD water consistently. Hot water sets the blood in and you'll never get rid of it, you'll need new clothes.
I'm sorry you're having such a hard time between grief and a body that's not cooperating. At least you can get the blood out.
