I even had my mother make cherry pie for my birthday. But when it became hard to find canned cherries in supermarkets, we switched to angel food cake with vanilla coconut frosting. That's good stuff, too.
Then again, I had creme brulee topped with assorted berries in a restaurant the other day. The berries were enormous and numerous, and the creme brulee was great. That falls into the "custard" category, apparently.
(I can recommend the Capital Grille in Pittsburgh if your pocketbook can stand it. The lobster bisque was outstanding)

My grandmother used to make the poppyseed cake with a glaze. Loved it. So I guess it's both for me. ty, Diamond_Dog.

PIE. rhubarb. not into blueberry, until i had blue berry/cranberry pie. blueberry/peach or nectarine better.

i mix up jelly/jams too. been adding orange marmalade to stuff. cherry jam too tart.
