Colors in the clouds around the Sun [View all]

I took a few snaps with my iPad and at first was bummed when skimming through them because you can’t see the shadow of the Moon. Then, I noticed the colors!

I mostly took pics when clouds moved over the Sun. As I looked through the them more closely, something caught my eye. In almost every one, there is a little blue reflection, or artifact, or I don’t know what to call it, of what the eclipse looked like at that point. It’s upside down and backwards from what I saw with my eyes. There was no damage to my iPad, it’s not showing up on test photos I just took.

Here’s the full, uncropped pic of above. You can see the little blue reflection thing on my finger across the top of the pic (I was snapping them very quickly)

This is the first pic, right after I got my chair set up and the eclipse had just started. The blue thing is down in the trees.

So I looked closely at all the other pics and it’s in most of them, usually down in the trees, but in a couple it’s next to the Sun. Glad I didn’t just delete them all as duds!
