Just saw some amazing rescue clips. [View all]

Something you don't see in any rescue situation in a movie in the US. You know how they sometimes portray a potential suicide as someone perched on the edge of a building or sitting on a window like they're going to jump? The most extreme rescue in the movies is when the hero tackles the person and pushes him over the edge, making sure they both fall on the inflate-able safety bounce below.

Well, as nice as that soft landing is, the reality isn't always played out in a gentle manner. In one rescue, the woman was sitting on the edge of a window. The rescuer came from above, rappelling and literally kicked her back into the room. Same with a woman standing at the edge of a balcony. It probably hurt, but the reality for the rescuer is to stop the person from jumping.

In another case where the guy had stepped down off the roof and was standing on a ledge, the rescuer went belly down on the roof and leaned over to grab the guy by his hair and wouldn't let go until other rescuers managed to reach the guy to pull him up back onto the roof.

Just goes to show, that when it's needed to save someone's life, think outside the box.
