WAUKESHA The daughter of state Rep. Barbara Dittrich is facing a new felony charge after she was allegedly found in possession of a firearm in Slinger last month.
Sophie Dittrich, 21, was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon on March 11 in Washington County Circuit Court in West Bend. Online court records indicate she posted $500 cash bail a day later, but was held on a probation hold. She appeared in a Washington County courtroom on Friday in custody, where she waived a preliminary hearing in the case. She is due in court again June 13.
In 2022, Dittrich pleaded guilty to counts of possession with intent to deliver psilocin, the active chemical in psychedelic mushrooms, and carrying a concealed weapon. As part of the plea agreement in the case, counts of possession of THC, the chemical that produces a marijuana high, as well as disorderly conduct and possessing drug paraphernalia, were dismissed. She was placed on a probation term in that case, which was charged in Waukesha County and transferred to Ozaukee County for prosecution.

In a statement to Conley Media, state Rep. Barb Dittrich, R-Oconomowoc, said: "My adult daughter has not lived with us for years, and I do not believe the children of lawmakers should be dragged into the middle of political campaigns. I love my daughter and I am praying for her, but she also needs to be held accountable like anyone else. Families all over Wisconsin are fighting the devastating aftermath of mental health issues or addiction. I have devoted my efforts as a legislator to fight for our children in regards to mental health and addiction, most recently with Act 72, which creates grants for recovery schools."
