1. Ah, the sweet tooth.. Try sugar-free gum and other distractions.
And eat the right amount. A little at breakfast, more at lunch, and something like two or three pieces of chicken (relative sizing) at dinner, because you have to digest all night.
Really, look up the numbers. You'd be waaaay better off with a little bit of chocolate- you can't eat a whole lot of a high quality dark chocolate anyhow.
I'm trying to lose weight, too. Sugar is also a big obstacle to me. But I figured up just how much sugar I was eating a day and I was surprised. It turned out that I was eating about 1400 calories a day in sugar rich food. I would get a snack every night at work that consisted of a six pacxk of those little Hostess donuts and a pint of chocolate milk. That alone was almost 900 calories. Then throw in a couple of candy bars a day and you have the 1400 calories.
I cut out almost all of that and started drinking only water. I say almost because I will still have a little bit of sugar as a treat. A couple of teaspoons of brown sugar in my oatmeal or maybe a couple of those little Andes mints after dinner.
Just by doing that I've lost 15 pounds in the last month.
