U.S. Defence Secretary Robert Gates said Thursday that 3,200 marines headed to southern Afghanistan will not provide the Canadian Forces there with the additional troop support recommended by the Manley report.
The marines, slated to stay for seven months following their spring departure, will be on a one-time assignment, Gates said during a Pentagon press briefing.
http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2008/01/24/gates-troops.htmlSo according to Manley we are ready to cut and run if we don't get help. We are ready to turn all of Afghanistan over to the Taliban if no one comes to our aid. Well it doesn't sound much different than what we have been hearing for awhile. We can't make decisions on our own. At least when we were a colony we knew who our lords were.
This is one big load of crap.
We are either at war or we are not at war. Apparently NATO has the ability to change things on a moving average sort of way. Their logic is lacking.
Perhaps we are on the wrong side of right, The whole Afghanistan war was not necessary from the get go. And we can't even deliver one logical, coherent solution in the political sphere.
Guess we have to wait for an economic meltdown.
