The writing is on the wall for all to see who wish.

The intent of this invasion was to establish a permanent
military presence in the region, and to gain complete control
over the Iraqi economy. Another goal of the invasion was
to demonstrate US military invincibility to the rest of the
world. The reality has accomplished exactly the opposite.
There is no more significant outcome of this war than
that.
