getting pay cuts for over ten years now. The company is simply walking away from pension obligations.

Even in the "good old days" dealing with the traveling public was an incredibly difficult job. I worked as a ticket agent at National Airport in Washington DC from 1969 to 1979 and NOTHING I have done since, including childbirth, has been half as difficult.

Employees on the front lines, the gate and ticket agents, flight attendants, get it both from management and passengers.

And several months ago there was a thread here on DU where some of our more charitable fellows said they didn't care if USAir went bankrupt and as far as they were concerned every USAir employee deserved to lose their job and be without a pension. It was so charming.
