CAPITOL HILL -- General John Abizaid says Iraq is not on the verge of civil war.
He admits the situation is serious and while he's concerned about the religious violence there, Abizaid believes it is controllable.

Abizaid, who is the Commander of US Central Command, told the House Armed Services committee that a majority of Iraqis "are trying to hold the country together and not pull it apart."

But he says it is "absolutely essential" a government of national unity emerge soon.

Abizaid spoke as the House began considering an emergency spending bill that includes more than $60 billion dollars for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

... I am glad that is all settled. :eyes:
