IMO, they know exactly what they are doing. A huge majority of voters favor the GOP Congressional approach to immigration, not the Bush-Democrat approach. IMO, the Democrats are on the wrong side in this debate. We should be favoring American labor, and fighting to stop the flood of illegal immigrants first, before considering any form of legalization.

Republicans have nothing left to run on. Iraq, out of control spending, huge budget deficits, a stagnant economy...they sure as hell don't want to run on these issues.

But I can sure as hell hear the commercials now-

Angie Paccione thinks illegal immigrants should be given amnesty. Marilyn Musgrave thinks we should uphold the law.

Immigration is their issue in 2006. If the election hinges on immigration, Democrats will lose badly.
