It seems to me that aside from their role in the Iraq war, the Brits pissed off the Islamic world rather mightily by knighting Salman Rushdie.

Whether the people perpetrating these attacks in Britain are an Al Queda affiliate or a group of home grown extremists is beside the point.

There ARE crazy religious nut cases out there who believe that it is an act of devotion to drive a car loaded with propane into the lobby of a crowded airport and immolate themselves in the process.

Somehow the U.S. and British Governments are bent on doing things which provoke these crazy people into more and more violent acts. With the war in Iraq, we've not only given them an opportunity to train their people and test their methods of killing but a recruiting poster for every young nobody in the Arab world who sees himself going out in a blaze of glory for Islam.
