Dunno if anybody caught a special on the History Channel a few days ago called "Dogfights" about fighter jocks. Prominently featured and interviewed throughout the program was our own Mr. Top Gun himself, randy "duke" cunningham, talking about the perils and joys of flying those muscle jets. Amazing juxtaposition with what we all know happened to him since that documentary was produced. He's no hero, but at least in that one, he got to play one on TV.

And yeah, that's certainly why we've seen the Justice Department go after Carol Lam. A) She dared to bring down one of THEIR people. B) They wanted to make sure her highly effective expertise could not claim the scalps of any more of their friends. They did it as much to shortcircuit her investigation's progress as for any other reason. And probably, considering how petty and vindictive these assholes are, there was probably a bit of retaliation in play here, too.
