42. Yeah--hoping Bush would get impeached--
and Cheney too.

I've been awful hopeful. Hopeful that the GOP implodes over how damn dumb and bad every policy these two bozos have implemeted over the years descredits their party, and make conservatism itself look like a shady deal.

I've been hopeful that more Americans will recognize the value of their right to vote, and will take more care to vote out dumbasses like these. Many Democratic voters have been registered, and I find that a hopeful scenario.

I have been hopeful that the war would end, that someone would come in and take a serious accounting of our government, what we spend money on. The waste. Yes, I, a democrat, decry the waste. The war on terror waste. The waste of corporate welfare. The national security earmark bullshit (I think they think they can pass any old bill if they say they got some spending that says it's about security or defense. Blue Blankies for all the GOP thumb-suckers!)

I have been hopeful about how Bush has screwed his party so bad it can't walk straight. He's unpopular, and it should carry down-ticket just like 2006. I'm hopeful that many people will see through the naked lie that it's the GOP who are the realists on foreign policy--or for that matter, on anything else. And I hope the "tax cuts are super" and "deficits don't matter" loads get wiped off with a tissue and thrown in the rubbish bin.

World-wide, people hoped the US would come to its senses, that we'd get serious about the good we could be doing economically and in terms of doing what old TR once recommended--"Talking softly, but carrying a big stick." Bush blew it. Our mighty military apparently can't handle Iraq. And how would we handle any of the other PNAC b.s. that Cheney wants? The people are not pacified, and they never have accepted us as liberators. Why? Because of DUH! Who are we fighting? Who are we backing? Iraq against Iraqis. There is a homegrown insurgency that does not want us. They HOPE we leave. And they will outlast us whether we state a date for withdrawal or not--because *they live there*. To acknowledge this is neither "surrender" nor "cut and run". It is just acknowledging facts.

Cheney is too far gone to recognize that sometimes, all you need to do to lose is pick the wrong fight. And that hope is the refuge of people who cry for justice--that's why we hope. People have gotten mad about the economy, and the war, and the stupidity. So we will hope.

That's why.
